Ludacris' Sexting Song

A single off Ludacris' new album set for release in about a week hits on our topic. Lyrics and music below:

[Ludacris - Chorus]
So I’m just sitting in this rehab class
trying to get myself unhooked on ass
so then my teacher asked me a question
like Ludacris are you over there sexting

ha ha OMG LOL KIT Smiley faces X and O’s LMFAO
my girl went through my cell phone
my girl went through my cell phone
my girl went through my cell phone
my girl went through my cell phone
i said my girl went through my cell phone
[repeated]

[Ludacris - Verse 1]
So I’m getting treated for my sex addiction
in my private clinic and I need you to be sensitive about my condition
cos I’m in it to win it and I really don’t want to further disappoint my fans
and my teachers a cougar so I wish she’d lend a helping hand
damn, calm down, BBC TXT or MSG
after class come with me and can I get a little bit of TLC
she replied what the f-ck
FYI you’re gonna flunk
SMH it’s such a shame
you ain’t learned a damn thing

[Chorus]

[Ludacris - Verse 2]
So I’m sitting in the crib just chillin and I’m minding my business
got a text with a tongue out from a number I didn’t recognize
I replied who is this
quick back got a hit back
said this is Stacy and I’ve been missing you
had to change my number so I went and got a new phone and new tattoo
a what, a new tattoo wow,
arrr yeaah, hurry click
can you send a nasty pic
so I can see right where it is
and I promise I won’t show my friends (yeah right)
she replied, well ok BTW by the way
SMH its such a shame that you aint learned a damn thing

[Chorus]

[Ludacris - Verse 3]
So I pull up to the club stunting in a Yellow Lamborghini
half bent, black tint, five percent make it a little hard to see me
stepped out, fresh out headed straight for the door and to the VIP
next thing I got a text from a freaky Latina saying is that you I see
is that you papi
so I bbm’ed abbreviate yep and before the night gets too late
let me hit you with a little Q&A
can I tap that ass tta
she replied it all depends
it’s me plus one can I bring my friends
and all I can think was that it’s such a shame
that I aint learned a damn thing

[Chorus]

Why some say he is slamming Tiger, he defends him in the clip below, "If I'm making fun of Tiger Woods, I'm also making fun of myself," Luda said in an interview. "This is what happens," he explained of the inspiration behind the song. "So I'm just bringing to light what's really going on in the world. It's very entertaining. And I do feel as though he may have handled it wrong...I would say, 'Let's go play some golf and talk about it -- I take that back -- I'd say, 'Let's go to the sex-rehab place together and let's discuss it. Let me know where your sex-rehab place is and I'll let you know where mine is. We got some things to get off our chest.'"

  1. This is a great example of how sexting happens. It all starts by someone well known, ludacris, signing about it and making it a funny thing. I think that young people really don’t know the consequences of sexting. In a relationship this all starts by flirting then it continues with sharing nude pictures of each other without knowing the severe consequences. Ludacris really emphasizes in his song how it’s a normal thing and how he should be more cautious about it for him not to get caught. Never in the song does he explain how it is wrong at shouldn’t be doing it. In fact, he calls the other person involved and asks to have sexual intercourse once more before his partner kills him. He also calls her at the beginning of the song to erase his number and have it be answered by the machine. This kind of things is very controversial, this shows how this can become a new "trend" and people can perceive it to be a joke without knowing you can be punished for it. I think there should be more artists educating people about it not just making fun of it. Just like in every song that we hear it seems to provide the listeners with an “ok” to do it as long as you don’t get caught. People need to be well informed in order to prevent and stop sexting entirely. I know that most young people like to dress a certain way as they see on TV or even speak or act. This song can have only two effects on society. One having society think it is okay to do or having them be more cautious when doing it. It doesn’t at all shows how sexting should be stopped so I believe it will continue until there is an understanding that it should not be done. Overall, I think this song will make more people think it’s a joke and continue sexting.

  2. I think this video shows that sexting has become part of American pop culture. Many other examples of music and television have spotlighted this topic. Another example of sexting can be seen on the TV show Two and a Half Men. On this show Charlie Sheen’s character receives some sext messages. Then his girlfriend brakes up with him. There is even a section on Wikipedia’s sexting page entitled popular culture that lists all of the television shows that have had episodes based on sexting.
Examples like this song and television shows have spotlighted this topic, and have made sexting a popular thing.

In this ABC video the reporter discusses how popular sexting has become in America. The report suggests that 25% of teens have sent sext messages. Like Jesus, I believe that the number of teens sexting will continue to increase.

  3. I think that sexting is a serious problem and kids expecially teenagers should not be exposed to such content. If you were a teenager and Ludacris is your idol then what might happen? The teenager will start to view sexting as being cool and a characteristic he should have. Most parents fail to realize how songs and artists effect their kids in one way or another. Although Ludacris claims that it is funny, sexting is a serious problem. If a teenager has his/her photo and uses MMS to send it to his/her girlfriend/boyfriend and with the combination of the Internet; disaster could happen. People need to realize that rappers and singers don't shape their culture and behavior. Such songs and videos should be used for entertainment and by no means effect or personality or judgement. Teens should realize that its not funny and they could be charged for sexting. This article shows how Teens could face chilf porn charges.
